Panny Cake

Since I received all of these old photos that I hadn’t seen in so long, so many memories have come flooding back…good and bad. Here is a good one…I hope I might have a photo of this…I think about 80% of the photos are still in CA.

My father used to make pancakes…I loved them!…but he did something special. He served them with campbells cream of chicken soup! so basically, they were more like crepes.

As the story goes…when my father was a free wheeling teen…he and his friends had a competition to see who could come up with the best topping for pancakes. I can only assume that syrup might have been too expensive as he was very poor but resourceful. He came up with the chicken soup solution and that is the only way I prefer to have pancakes…of course you have to have butter too.
How I loved his old griddle and the mornings when I could smell the coffee , the cigarettes and the pancakes cooking…always on a Sunday.

What made me think of this was the frisbee that I bought for Rune today. He is toy obsessed…This frisbee is like a light blue flimsy pancake…so thin…it flies for a long long way. I have to be careful or it will go over the fence….He didn’t like it at first but he was carrying it around by the end of the day…drooping out of his mouth.

I call it “Panny Cake” .

My father used to make small pancakes for the dogs * we had 2 black miniature poodles, Angie ( mine) and Misty ( my Mothers) …and he called them , the little pancakes, Panny Cakes. They even had cream of chicken soup on theirs.

Aside> I miss breakfast sausage…you can get bacon ( lardon) and there are many kinds of sausage, but no breakfast sausage that I can decipher ..maybe “natural” …and the cream of chicken soup here is not great…
so, I can only dream of the old days.
