Tuesday I got Rune in the car and we drove the hairpin road up to almost St Barnabe. I have been on this trail many times but not in awhile. I am nervous about the Patou at my favorite walk...my most favorite walk has lots of pine trees and they are filled with processional caterpillars at this time of year. If a dog sniffs one and gets one of its hairs on them, it could kill them, seriously...they are very dangerous. This trail has no pines just oak. There were amazing clouds, the perfect day to go up. Takes me about 30 minutes to get to this spot.
Only one bit of drama...as were were almost back to the car, a big pack of dogs appeared and were running at us. Rune was smart enough to stand still ( he was about 20 ft in front of me as usual) I grabbed him and started saying NO! in a very low strong tone. I saw a woman in the distance calling them back. They were all kinds of dogs, maybe 12 or so, all big, or so I thought. They all had red plastic collars on.
She got them to go back to her and proceeded way off trail ( easy to do on this trail)...We passed and all of a sudden a chihuahua runs at us barking his head off....he was a nasty little guy. I gave him the big NO! and kept walking. Phew!
We go to the car and I see a brown pit bull type with the same collar on that was seemingly left behind.
He looked nervous. I tried to get him going down the trail but he insisted on going toward the road...not a busy road, very isolated. I beeped the horn to try to get her attentionI called out to her, I called the dog to come...I would have walked him to her, but he kept going and I never saw her again. Not good! Too many dogs to keep track of and dangerous! She had to imagine she was going to run into someone.

It's a flat rocky trail all the way to the end...at the end is a high bluff that looks out to the sea but it was very glarey so no photos.

Hepatica, the first I have seen this year. My eyes are great at finding things. |

crocus |
|
Many trees have these ball like plants growing in them. They are almost like succulents. |
|
I've go to get back to reshoot this. The light was way too hotl |

I love the crocuses enmeshed in other plants...they keep their color. The ones right out in the open get whiter and whiter. Crocuses were everywhere. |
