Here are the rules...at night Rune starts in the bed, waiting for me...then when I get ready to get in...he jumps up and down into his bed in a big dramatic move...I get in and then he comes back and settles in, chews his bone a bit, tries to get me involved...I will hold it for him so he can chew...eventually, he stops and settles down...
IF I even think of putting on moisturizer of lotion, he bolts up like he just got an electrical current to his butt! and jumps down...why, I don't know...so I find myself sneaking moisturizer...he will turn to look at me to see what I am doing and I hide the jar...so silly.
When I am ready for sleep, I put on the white noise machine and again....jolts up and exits...lots of drama...the first note of the sound and he is gone...
So we sleep...he goes back and forth from his bed at the bottom of my bed to his bed in the living room...often, after he rises, he does a big shake right next to my bed...and it always wakes me up. If he has to go out, he makes a piercing noise, I call it "squeeeeee" cause that's the way it sounds...it's a test...will I respond. I can tell by the urgency and the frequency what it means.
Then, in the morning...he goes outside but only if it's not raining and comes back into the bed for a lie in. I have a yellow blanket that I cover him with at this time. Sometimes, he practically lies on top of me to the point where I can't move my left arm...When I decide to rise and shine, he stays in bed. I throw back my 3 deep blankets over him but make sure to make an escape hole ( as you see in the photo) so he can get out when his breakfast is ready...often, I have to unwrap him and then he slowly gets up, employing all of his various stretches which slows everything down.
He comes out to his surf and turf breakfast which, I am embarrassed to say consists of ...1 anchovy and a little of the oil, carrots or green beans, a chicken burger ( from frozen and then boiled, not expensive) broken up and some high quality hard dog food drizzled with some X virgin olive oil..and he eats breakfast in the lovely new bowl that my friend Sue sent us for X mas.
If I had another husband...would he get this nice treatment...not sure.
