Incredible footage. The book on Everest that I'm reading led me to this....A man was on the Mountain K2 looking through binoculars...he saw something blue on the mountain ...and wondered...so he took his tiny drone (1.5 lbs) that he had been perfecting at high altitude and see if he could get it out to the man at a super high altitude...He wasn't sure it would work and it didn't at first ( it returned as it thought it was going to run out of power so they added another battery) They flew it out again and were able to fly over the man....and saw that he was holding on to his ice ax for fear of sliding down and off the mountain...He had been there for hours and no one knew...His team didn't have a tracker on him
so look at this video and when it sees the man, who had been there for hours, it turns around to come back and look closely...you can see the pitch, you can see how he was afraid he was going to slide off the mountain...so scary.
But they did save the man...his team walked hours and hours in to get him led by the drone...so lucky.
Why I love this type of thing, I have no idea why, but I have read many many books on dangerous climbing...I loved to read about how people live through ( or don't) adverse situation...Why do they go there, how do they survive?
