"Barge"

 A fun fact.….In French Argo…more the Marseilles dialect, the word “Barge” refers to a crazy girl. I am not 100% sure what it means…I take it that it means just means a nutty woman that you want to avoid.(?) or maybe a promiscuous girl? I am not sure about that. If I went to question the people I know, all men, they would tease me about it  ( in French) and I would never get to the bottom of it…

However, today, I was at the fancy frozen food store, Picard ( WAY over priced and lots of process food) the cashier, an older woman in a face mask, asked me if I had my “fidelity card”. Do they still have that in the US? I have not been able to find this card and I don’t go there much so she asked me for my name. It had been a long time since I even thought about “Barge”. The woman asked my name so she could look me up in the computer..."La Barge" I over pronounce.…she looked up at me and said, “really!”…I said, “yes, I know….” “Really” she said again…looking at me in awe. “Yes, I know!” She couldn’t believe it…there was a huge line waiting for me but she was stymied by “La Barge”….I think it was because she was an older woman and looked like a local….a salty dog. It was a good story for her to tell at the end of the day..."I met a woman named La Barge...can you believe it?"
