Covid, Crates and Possible Catastrophe.

I was at the supermarket today, doing my usual shop. I am always on the look out for empty boxes or empty produce crates called something like cagettes….they are made from thin wood which is excellent for starting a fire.

I am always looking for the small ones that fit right into the stove. I think I have a sort of hang over from Covid as I feel like I have to hard these crates. Presently, I have about 8 outside of the door. I am always on the look out for them and I am not the only one.
I run into people all of the time doing the same thing.
Anyway, as you exit this supermarket there is a spot where they leave these crates out for people to take. It always feels like a BONUS to me to come upon a few that I can take whether I need them or not. This spot is on a bit of an incline and I should be more careful.
I park the car, leave it on, put it in park and pop out, go around the back to grab some crates…I looked at the car when I was around the back and it was starting to roll downhill!…What!
I ran around the front to jump in the drivers side…what was I thinking???
But, TO MY RESCUE, there were 3 big and handsome construction workers coming up, seeing my dilemma…They were all decked out in their florescent colors, hard hats and all.  They quickly realized the situation by the look on my face and the car starting to roll.  They ran to stop the car by putting their weight against the front, holding it till I could get in.
I scurried around, jumped in and reset the hand brake…
Phew! I sat in the drivers seat with a nice view of 3 strong and handsome men stopping the car, saving the day. They were very amused by the whole situation…Damsel in distress. One looked like Chris Martin. ( Cold Play)
And we all laughed. The center one with a trim beard, Italian looking ,said to me….Madame…you turned white! When you realized what was happening.
I thanked them over and over…I think they quickly realized that I wasn’t French…I didn’t know what to say to them…they might have heard me say “Holy Hell” as I ran around the car when it started to roll.
They went off to have their lunch, laughing and taking about what happened and I grabbed my crates ( did you think I was not going to get them?) and then drove off,
I am very fortunate.
I have had so many lucky experiences that involve a car that I am driving and strangers…I add this one to the list.
