Tomahawk is not Japanese...

My father made an appearance today in way of me acting the old timer that knows things. I stopped by the butcher counter at the supermarket. They had Tomahawk steaks, something I never heard of before. They were huge! I asked the young butcher..."What are they called in French?" He pronouched Tomahawk like I thought he would.....breaking it into a million syllables. I asked if he knew what a Tomahawk is...He said "something Japanese ?" Oh no....that when Bill La Barge stepped up...No, it's an American Indian weapon, like an axe. I could tell he wasn't believing me...I said..."Do you have a phone?" Yes...well, look it up...So he sees American and then "Florida"??? The French always cling to Florida as they think they can understand it better for some reason....and now he knows....As I walked away I am sure he said something like "Know it all" in French.

That steak looks yummy and is super expensive. This spring I need to have a Tuscan Steak in Italy as it is a specialty and I have never had one...They are massive and people usually split it. I will find a place in the hinterland and not in Florence.
